Baseball/Softball Dues Reminder

Reminder that your Baseball and Softball dues are due on or before January 1, 2012. Any payment after that date is subject to a $20.00 late fee. If you have done any other sports for this fiscal year 2011/2012 and have paid your association dues you will only have to pay the baseball and/or softball dues which are $15.00 each. If you have not paid the annual association dues you will also owe $15.00 for those. If you are unsure if you have paid your association dues and/or baseball and softball dues please contact Tom Priebe for verification.

The Association would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the following members who worked the May 26 Loons Concession Stand. With this effort, we were able to raise $525.00 toward the VanSlyke Scholarship fund.

The amendment to change Article 4 of the constitution passed.

On behalf of the Bay Metro Board of Directors and our entire membership, I'd like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Manny Sapien whose wife recently passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with Manny and his family.

The Spring Meeting for Bay Metro's Annual Meeting is Tuesday, March 29. Highlights of the agenda include the election of the following Board of Directors positions:  Treasurer, (2) Member at Large positions, Baseball Assignor, Softball Assignor.  We will also vote for the recipient of the Van Slyke Award, have sign-up sheets for the Loon's Concession stand fundraiser, vote on a proposed change to the constitution, discuss the summer banquet along with other association business.  A reminder that a copy of our constitution can be found here.

BMOA in need of a Great Lakes Loons Coordinator

The association is in need of a new coordinator to handle all of the Great Lakes Loons Responsibilites. Tim Walters held the position last year and has decided to step-down. The position requires filling the open positions to work each of the 4-5 games that the association recieves. All proceeds go to the Kenny VanSlyke award. Please contact Bruce Moore if you are interested in the position.

Long Time Member of Bay Metro Passes Away

Mr. Skrzypczak passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. Age 84 years. He was born March 27, 1926 in Bay City for many years. Dan was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic and the League of Catholic Women and Men, he was a retired plasterer and a member of the BMP International Union. He was inducted in the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame, a member the Michigan High School Athletics Association, the Saginaw YMCA, Saginaw Area Handball Association, Bay Metro Officials Association and was a local sports figure. He was a decorated U.S. Marine veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze star on Iwo Jima.

But area school and athletic officials were singing his praises last week in announcing that Paulik, 18, is the recipient of the 2010 Bay Metro Officials Association $500 scholarship. Pinconning Selected for Kenny VanSlyke Award

Pinconning High School was selected as the 2010 winner of the Kenny VanSlyke Award. The school has chosen David Paulik as the recipient for the scholarship. Congratulations to Pinconning High School and David.

Bruce Moore will be the new president assuming the responsibilities of past president Mike Luptowski. The move for Bruce leaves an opening at the "Member-at-Large" postion which will be filled by the Board. Lee Morgan, Cindy Titof, and Bill Heintskill remain in their position after winning their respective elections. Congratulations to all!
