Attention Officials: Bay Metro All-Sports Banquet 2008 !
We want you to join us in starting the new season! This year we have an
outstanding program. Our banquet will be August 10th , Sunday. It will be held at the Horizons Conference Center located at 6200 State St. Saginaw, Michigan.
We will have two 'high powered' speakers again this year. Our 1st is Mr. Jack Roberts, who has been at the helm of the MHSAA for more than 20 years. The 1,550 member schools, 12,000 registered officials and 13,000 head coaches. He has inspired the membership to address the most critical issues of athletics and especially to improve sportsmanship. Jack's keynote talk will be about " How to make a silk purse from a sow's ear."
Our 2nd speaker is Ms, Marcy Weston, Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Central Michigan University. Most recently she has been honored with the NASO Gold Whistle Award (July 2008). Among her many contributions, she has officiated two NCAA Women's Basketball Championship games. Her keynote will be, "Make a difference in all You Do". Both of these topics are timely and important to all of us as officials.
Horizons offers adequate (and free) parking, spacious facility accommodations and award winning deluxe buffet/desserts. While at the banquet, you will have many chances to win local gift certificates and take part in a 50/50 raffle. We will also have some
'unique' gifts that will be awarded to the lucky ticket holder(s). All in all, it looks to be a very special evening, so make a plan and attend our banquet! We kindly look forward to your support by attending your Association's banquet. Please support the Association that has supported you thru your officiating career.

To all concession stand workers at the Loons games:
As you can see, there are a lot of workers for the 5 games. Your crew
leader is identified on the schedule. You are responsible to contact
your crew leader at least ONE WEEK in advance of your game. If you are
bringing guests with you, make sure that the crew leader knows that you
are in contact with those workers, and please notify your other workers
that you are bringing with you. Some of you did not give me the names
of your other people that you are bringing, so, please let the crew
leader know the names if they are not named on the list. If you would
like to bring other people with you, that is fine, but the crew leader
MUST know in advance. The crew leader will let all of the workers for
that game know what is expected of you, along with dress codes and
anything else that you need to know. All workers must arrive 2 1/4
hours prior to game time and report to your crew leader. Crew leaders
must be there 3 hours before game time. You must sign in TWICE, once
with your crew leader, and once at the stand you are working. The
crew leader will assign all stations to the workers. All BMOA game
workers are scheduled to work the 1ST base concession stand. If there
are any questions, please contact your crew leader to answer them for
you. If your crew leader cannot answer your question, Mike Luptowski
(Loon's contact person for BMOA) will try to get an answer for you. If
you or anyone that you are bringing cannot make a game for any reason,
your crew leader needs to know ASAP so arrangements can be made to
replace you. Please do not send someone in you place without letting
your leader know well in advance. More information will follow as we
get closer to game time.
Have a great time and thank you for supporting the Kenny Van Slyke
Scholarship Award and Fund and Bay Metro Officials Association.
